Parent Coaching/Support and Family Consultation

Coaches work with parents (typically without the child present) to explore and understand unmet needs that may manifest in ineffective behaviors. The goal is to help parents understand the child and help them with strategies to between the child and parent/s, addressing emotional alignment and trauma, and teaching parents regulation and connection.

A family consultation is a professional meeting in which providers meet with family members to gather information, provide guidance, and collaborate on support strategies related to a client’s needs. The identified client may or may not be present.

Common focus areas include:

  • Understanding Family Dynamics: and how they impact each others.

  • Behavior Management: Understanding the function of the behavior and supporting the child to find healthier ways to meet his/her needs.

  • Transitions: Navigating divorce, moving, new siblings, or school changes.

  • Neurodiversity Support: Strategies for children with ADHD, autism (ASD) and sensory sensitivities.

  • Communication: Identifying and learning communication styles and promote positive communication skills.

  • Parental Well-being: Managing caregiver burnout, stress, and energy.
