Jeffrey Gillman, PhD

Jeffrey Gillman is a licensed clinical psychologist (PY00002232) who provides psychotherapy, consultation, and mental health services to teens, adults and families. Dr. Gillman serves a diverse range of clients, including teens and adults coping with conditions such as cancer, diabetes, asthma, recurrent headaches, inflammatory bowel disease/recurrent abdominal pain (IBD/RAP), trauma, and PTSD. His expertise also extends to working with first responders and individuals following military deployment..

Aside from insurances above, he works as an out-of-network provider and accepts payment at the time of each session.


If you plan to use your out-of-network benefits, Jeff will be happy to provide a superbill (an insurance receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

His practice is centered on providing developmentally informed, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness-

based, and integrative psychotherapy. He particularly enjoys working with teens, adults, and

families who are experiencing health-related issues and traumatic events. Areas of focus include

helping clients adjust to and cope with acute or chronic medical diagnoses, preparing for medical

procedures, improving adherence to medical regimens, and offering non-pharmacological treatment

for pain.

About Jeff

Dr. Gillman received his doctorate (Ph.D.) in Clinical Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth

University / The Medical College of Virginia, with extensive training in assessment, intervention,

and consultation for adults, adolescents, and children. After completing his clinical internship at the

Indiana University School of Medicine Consortium of Clinical Psychology, he joined the faculty

and taught at the Riley Children’s Hospital Child Development Center. He then pursued further

training, completing a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pediatric Psychology at The University of

Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

Following his fellowship, Dr. Gillman joined the faculty at Nationwide Children’s Hospital,

affiliated with The Ohio State University School of Medicine, where he served as Clinical Assistant

Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Consultation-Liaison Service for eight years. Upon

relocating to the Northwest, he spent six years as a member of the Pediatric Psychology Service at

Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma, where he developed and directed the Mary Bridge

Multidisciplinary Eating Disorders Program. In 2003, Dr. Gillman transitioned to private practice.

Additional Qualifications and Contributions

In addition to his clinical and teaching roles, Dr. Gillman has co-authored a professional text

focused on supporting children with acute and chronic health issues. He has published several

articles in professional journals and has presented at numerous public speaking engagements,

covering topics such as parenting children with medical challenges, eating disorders, clinical uses

of hypnosis for symptom management, and acute and chronic pain management.

Dr. Gillman is also a Certified Trainer in Disaster Mental Health, has served as a member of the

King County Public Health Medical Reserve Corps, and provides clinical services to U.S. Military

Veterans through the Wounded Warrior Project and Give an Hour.
