Depression

Depression can affect how we feel, how much energy we have, and how connected we feel to the people around us — and it often shows up in our relationships too. We welcome clients experiencing depression at any point in their journey, whether you're just starting to notice symptoms or have been navigating this for a while.

Our practice welcomes clients experiencing depression at any stage — from mild, situational low mood to more persistent symptoms — and integrates individual treatment with our relational therapy focus when relevant, recognizing that depression and relationship functioning often influence one another.

What We Help With

Our Approach

  • Depressed mood most of the day, nearly every day

  • Anhedonia — markedly diminished interest or pleasure in activities once enjoyed

  • Appetite/weight changes — significant weight loss or gain, or appetite increase/decrease

  • Sleep disturbance — insomnia or hypersomnia nearly every day

  • Psychomotor changes — agitation or retardation observable by others

  • Fatigue or loss of energy nearly every day

  • Feelings of worthlessness or excessive/inappropriate guilt

  • Diminished concentration or indecisiveness

  • CBT — identifying and restructuring negative thought patterns and behaviors

  • Behavioral Activation — increasing engagement in rewarding/valued activities to counter avoidance and withdrawal

  • ACT — building psychological flexibility, values-based action, and acceptance of difficult internal experiences

  • DBT skills — particularly useful when depression co-occurs with emotion dysregulation or self-harm

  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) — combines CBT with mindfulness; strong evidence for relapse prevention

  • Attachment-Based Therapy — Addresses depression rooted in relational patterns

  • Psychodynamic Approaches — Explores deeper roots of depression

  • Somatic Techniques — Manages the physical symptoms of depression focusing on the nervous system and physical sensations

  • Psychoeducation —Provides learning in the nature of depression and how treatment works.
